  • Read a novel and write a short review.
  • Read a short story and write an alternative ending.
  • Find several articles about the same subject (in different news papers) and compare them (did they share the same facts, were they objective/subjective, was their main focus sensation or objective information ...).
  • Read an article on a newspaper website (e.g. via Facebook) and post a comment in the discussion section.
  • Read English poetry and write down your findings.
  • Read English poetry and try to analyse the poem(s).
  • Read a manual in English and try to explain what you have to do in your own words.
  • Read an English bedtime story to your brother, sister, grandparent, niece, nephew and record this moment on video. You might have to explain to this person (in Dutch) what the story was about afterwards.

  • Write a poem.
  • Write about what you will remember most from this school year.

  • Write a letter to someone that has passed away (somebody famous or somebody you knew).
  • Write an argumentative article (cf. Big Brother) about a subject of your choice.

  • Level up even more with bbc English for teens
  • Watch the BBC news and write a short report.
  • Watch the BBC news, pick one news bulletin you found interesting and write down why you chose that subject.
  • Watch an episode of your favourite show without subtitles. While you watch, write down words you don't understand. Afterwards, look up the words and write down what the episode was about.

  • Level up with bbc English for teens
  • Film yourself while reading a story or a poem.
  • Teach me something new and film or audiotape yourself.
  • Film yourself presenting an extraordinary topic.
  • Try to convince me of a film, a cd or another product. Film this.
  • Talk about yourself: what have you learned this year? Film or audiotape this.
  • Make a serious phone call to an English company and film yourself while doing this. Put your phone on speaker so I can hear the person on the other line as well! Prepare yourself for this phone call so you can ask enough interesting questions.
